The public body normally has five working days to respond by producing records, partly producing and redacting them, withholding them with a statutory reason, reporting that they were not found, or invoking an extension. The ordinary extension adds seven working days. A large estimate can require a deposit under Virginia's FOIA process.

The Virginia sheriff domain is brunswickso.org. Search results often mix in Brunswick County, North Carolina, which operates a different sheriff and detention system. Confirm the state and official agency before relying on any roster, app, or photo.
Brunswick County State-Custody Mugshots
A person transferred from MRRJ to the Virginia Department of Corrections has not been released to the community. Search that person through the VADOC inmate and supervisee locator. State record duties include photographs, fingerprints, and descriptions, and an official public system may display an image. The existence of a VADOC photo does not guarantee public access to the entire inmate file.
Lawrenceville Correctional Center is a state prison in Brunswick County. A photo tied to that institution belongs to VADOC's record system, not the MRRJ booking archive. VADOC assumed direct management of Lawrenceville in 2024, so older pages naming a private operator may be stale. Pair the state image with the exact displayed custody or discharge status.
The Virginia State Police registry is narrower. It shows current photos only for people who are legally required to register. It is not a county mugshot search and should never be used to infer that any released person must appear there.

Verify Brunswick County Mugshot Context

A report about an arrest does not prove a conviction or current confinement. Check whether the publisher added a disposition, then confirm the outcome through the court and the custody exit through MRRJ or VADOC.
Commercial photo pages have the lowest evidentiary value. They can be stale, omit corrections, confuse Virginia with North Carolina, or keep the image while losing the release and case outcome. No commercial mugshot publisher or removal vendor is linked or endorsed. An official booking record and court result are stronger than a copied image.

Brunswick County Mugshot Sealing
Virginia's expungement and sealing rules can restrict disclosure of qualifying records. Section 2.2-3706(C) bars FOIA disclosure of expunged and certain sealed records unless dissemination is authorized. A missing old image can therefore reflect lawful sealing, but it does not by itself prove that no arrest or custody event occurred. Effective dates matter because Virginia's Code pages stage further sealing changes in late 2026 and 2027.
Va. Code § 8.01-40.3 creates civil liability when a publisher that maintains charge or arrest information solicits or accepts value to remove it. It does not ban all publication, establish a government gallery, or replace a court sealing process.
When an official record is inaccurate, use the agency's correction process or the Virginia criminal-history challenge procedure under § 9.1-132. When a court has sealed or expunged a record, provide the order to the record custodian and ask what action its law and policy require. Paying an unofficial removal vendor does not correct the source record.
